P 24.2 - Fastening systems - Structural anchors and anchor channels This research work was carried out at the University of Innsbruck, Institute for Structural and Industrial Engineering, with the support of the Studiengesellschaft für Anwendungstechnik von Eisen und Stahl e.V., Düsseldorf. A few years ago, the Studiengesellschaft für Anwendungstechnik von Eisen und Stahl e.V. initiated a project with the author of this publication, Prof.Arch.Dipl.-Ing. Henschker, to summarise and present the state of the art of fasteners at the present time, limited to the requirements of building construction. Developments in the construction industry show that conventional construction methods are increasingly being replaced by pure assembly construction systems. They are characterised by an extensive relocation of parts production to the workshop or factory with constant conditions and excellent possibilities for simplification. Assembly then remains on the construction site with the main activities of transporting and connecting. While transport on the construction site has been revolutionised in recent years, there is still a great deal of work to be done in the field of fastening technology. This means that fasteners and fastening systems are becoming increasingly important in order to further reduce the share of assembly in total production costs, which can account for up to 4o %. As there is little specialised literature available on fasteners and fastening techniques for the construction industry and there is a complete lack of comprehensive publications, it seemed sensible and necessary to compile this topic. The actual work consisted of compiling, reviewing and analysing the relevant literature, in particular taking into account company publications. Furthermore, discussions were held with manufacturers of fasteners, planners and designers; and finally, the aim was to complete all the necessary information for the planner and installer, with the aim of increasing the clarity of the fasteners currently on the market through descriptive texts, figures, tables, load-bearing capacity analyses, etc. The first volume on fasteners was published in 1981. Following the publication of the first volume on structural anchors in 1981, this second volume is devoted to the subject of "Structural anchors/anchor channels". Further compilations on fasteners and fastening techniques are in progress. The Studiengesellschaft für Anwendungstechnik von Eisen und Stahl e.V. will continue to publish subsequent volumes on this subject at irregular intervals. Publication: 1981 Authors: Prof. Arch. P 08.1 - Load-bearing behaviour of steel columns in combination with concrete (hollow sections) This paper contains the calculation and design of concrete-lined hollow section columns made of structural steel under compression and uniaxial bending. After a brief introduction, Section 2 summarises international research work in this field. In Section 3, a calculation programme is developed as an accurate numerical method. Section 4 contains interaction relations for the ultimate limit state for the whole range between centric compression and pure bending. Many results obtained with the described calculation programme and the interaction curves are compared with each other and with available test results; very good agreement can almost always be observed. P 08.2 - Load-bearing behaviour of steel columns in combination with concrete (open profiles) This paper contains the calculation and design of steel columns in concrete under compression and uniaxial bending. Some comments and design suggestions are also made for biaxial bending. Section 2 summarises international research work. Section 3 explains a calculation programme that is used for precise numerical calculation. Section 4 contains interaction relations and design proposals based on the European buckling stress curves. The proposed design procedure is explained using a number of examples. Numerous ultimate loads determined in accordance with Sections 3 and 4 are compared with foreign test results. A generally good agreement can be established Publication: 1976 Authors: J. Stanke
